Agricultural plastic

The burning of plastic film is prohibited under Article 22 of the Atmospheric Quality By-Law. In addition, under section 66 of the Environmental Quality Act, no one may deposit or dispose of waste in a location other than a place where storage, processing or disposal is permitted.

Burning plastic releases toxic and carcinogenic gases such as dioxins and furans.

Offenders are subject to fines of up to a few thousand dollars.
